South Miami Academy
The South Miami Academy is Miami’s oldest dance conservatory with a rich, over 70-year history. The Academy has produced numerous artists who have successful careers at companies such as Martha Graham Dance Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, and Dance Theatre of Harlem, to name a few. Although the Academy began with just ballet classes, it has since expanded its class offering to include tap, musical theater, hip hop, contemporary, and flamenco. Whether your child dreams of becoming a professional dancer or simply wish to explore various dance genres, Armour Dance Theatre prides itself in catering to each individual’s needs and helping them meet their goals.

As a leading dance institution, Armour Dance Theatre felt it was its responsibility to ensure that the power of dance is accessible and provides a pathway to success for all youth in our community. The way this is accomplished is through the Pointes of Impact Programming, which includes Free after-school and summer camp Community Programs, Next Steps, Summer in NYC, and Beyond the Classroom.

The Nutcracker
Armour Dance Theatre’s Nutcracker ballet is more than a holiday tradition. The cast of over 140 includes students from six Armour Dance Theatre locations, New World School of the Arts students in advanced roles, alongside world-class guest stars, ensuring high quality and diversity. Our goal is for all children in the audience to see performers who look like them.
Over 7,000 public schoolchildren experience this production annually. Armour Dance Theatre launched the region’s first Sensory-Inclusive Nutcracker, becoming a leader in making the arts accessible to all children.
The Nutcracker will be held at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater for field trip performances and an evening performance for the general public. Tickets are available NOW on LIVE NATION and at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater box office.

The Thomas Armour Youth Ballet, now known as Armour Dance Theatre was founded in 1951 as a school of classical ballet named The Miami Conservatory, and a non-profit performing company called The Miami Ballet.
